2018. február 14-16
2nd Open Data Cube Conference
Helyszín: Geoscience Australia, Canberra
A képen a GA épülete.

.

WEBINAR ON SEP 13, 2017 AT 1:00 PM UTC (duration 1hr)
UN Environment bemutatja:
The Indicator Reporting Information System (IRIS)

Itt lehet bejelentkezni: https://attendee.gotowebinar.com/register/4209520232754463489

A szervező Derek  Gliddon (EoE) írja:
"
ABSTRACT
The Indicator Reporting Information System (IRIS) is a software platform developed by UN Environment with the support of Env. Agency Abu Dhabi to facilitate reporting at all levels and to make it easier to take stock of the environment. IRIS has been designed in response to multiple challenges faced by real-world organisations – especially those where expert knowledge and technological resources are in short supply. IRIS is designed to be a universally applicable and enduring platform. IRIS delivers real-world “business benefit” by focusing on workflow automation – to reduce burden; it overcomes an obstacle to data sharing which is widespread in many jurisdictions – the reluctance to share low-level data without the associated assessment narrative. IRIS addresses the knowledge challenges associated with establishing an indicator-based reporting process by providing a Shared Knowledgebase – so that countries can share relevant report templates and indicator definitions with a more public audience.

SPEAKER
Prof. Alexandre Caldas has more than 25 years experience in science and technology policy across Academia, Industry, Government and International organisations.
He is currently a Director in United Nations Organisation, as Chief of Country Outreach, Technology and Innovation, in the Science Division of UN Environment. "

Fenntartható nyílt adatok: üzleti modellek a nemzeti kataszteri és térképészeti hatóságok számára

Az EuroSDR emlékeztető felhívása:
"EuroSDR Workshop Sustainable Open Data Business Models for NMCAs

The concept of open data is gaining momentum as open data are often associated with realizing many government ambitions, such as increased economic value and solving societal problems. However, to implement an open data policy and maintain high quality data in a sustainable manner may pose a challenge to the traditional business models of National Mapping & Cadastral Agencies (NMCAs). Especially self-funding NMCAs have to find a balance between generating sufficient revenue to cover a substantial part of their operating costs and at the same time comply to open data principles. The traditional business models of NMCAs are based on generating revenue from licence fees for their datasets, which contain authoritative and authentic data used as register data. A shift from supplying licenced data to open data not only means a loss of revenue in the short term but also a loss of control over the reuse of the data and customer contact. A decrease in revenue may pose a risk to data quality or to the level of services.
On the other hand, open data may also offer direct benefits to NMCAs, for example, more feedback on data quality by citizens and companies, or more efficient use of resources. However, it is by no means a certainty that the much-lauded indirect benefits of open data will outweigh the direct costs the NMCAs incur to supply open data according to the open data principles. To be able to adapt their business model, will require NMCAs to think out of the box. EuroSDR, in cooperation with Eurogeographics, commenced a research to assess the effects of open data policies on the business model of NMCAs. This includes the way NMCAs are able to (re)finance their operational costs and to ensure long-term sustainability of their (open) data.
This workshop will bring together the NMCAs to present and share their experiences of open data and discuss the research results with representatives of academia. Issues that will discussed will be:
 What were the outcomes of the online survey of April 2017?
 Which funding models can be utilised by NMCAs and how sustainable are these?
 What have the effects of open data been on the operational costs of the NMCA?
 Which options do NMCAs have to their disposal to refinance their operational costs?
 Is the supply of open data living up to expectations?
 What are the non-financial challenges to implementing open data?
Is there a future for a pan-European open data infrastructure?

Digitális Föld Csúcs Marokkóban

A Nemzetközi Digitális Föld Társaság (ISDE) előzetes tájékoztatása szerint soron következő tematikus csúcstalálkozójukat  (DES 2018) "Fenntartható fejlődés Afrikában" címmel 2018. április 17-19 között tartják a marokkói El Jadidában. A rendezvény a hetedik a csúcstalálkozók sorában. Ezúttal a házigazda a Chouaib Douakkali Egyetem (CDU) lesz.

A konferencia altémái:

1: A Digitális Föld legjobb gyakorlata és alkalmazásai
2: Földmegfigyelés és alkalmazásai a tudományban és politikában
3: Digitális Föld technológiák  a Fenntartható Fejlődési Célok (FFC) megvalósításában
4: Digitális Föld az életminőség fokozása, az élhetőbb környezet szolgálatában
5: Az éhség felszámolása Digitális Föld technológiák felhasználásával
6: Geo-etika,  a jövő nemzedékeinek képzése Digitális Föld technológiák alkalmazásával

Minden részlet (határidők, előadásbeküldés, részvételi jelentkezés) megtalálható a konferencia honlapján: www.desummit2018.org

REAL CORP 2017
Panta Rhei – the World in Constant Motion
(11) 12-14 SEPTEMBER 2017
VIENNA UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY

Mobility is a multifaceted topic with a complex past development. Ideological quarrels, almost religious wars have been fought during the past decades when talking about mobility issues. But how can we use today’s knowledge and techniques to shape the forward-looking mobility of tomorrow? Actually, how can mobility be defined? REAL CORP 2017 deals with everything that moves im time and space. These theme fields will be covered during the conference:

Mobility – intermodal, multimodal, on-demand – state of the art and future perspectives
Megastructures and global transport hubs vs. bikeable and walkable environments – is this one world?
Traffic and transport in smart cities and regions
E-Mobility & beyond
Mobility of an ageing population: How to deal with special mobility needs of impaired people
Moving people – migration into cities, international migration, seasonal migration, rediscovery of the villages, ... – from local to global perspectives
Data analysis, surveillance and monitoring from above: satellites, planes, drones
Changing cities, changing landscapes – slow or fast changes, stable or fragile structures
Real time mobility data and applications
New and upcoming transport technologies
Spatial simulation, modelling and decision support
Individual mental and physical mobility: Accessibility in ICT and Planning
GIS and Geoinformation: What do we expect from New Observation Technologies

It would be great to be able to welcome you to REAL CORP 2017 in September in Vienna.

Szabad- és nyíltforrású térinformatikai szoftverek a téradat infrastruktúrában - németországi nyári tanfolyam

A Bernhard Harzer Verlag GmbH mai figyelemfelhívása számot tarthat a földügy és térinformatika területén dolgozók érdeklődésére, hiszen a téradat infrastruktúra fejlesztés során a szabad és nyíltforrású szoftverek felhasználásáról lesz szó ezen a rövid bonni tanfolyamon.
Magyarországon a témakörben Dr. Siki Zoltán, BME AGT tanára és a köré csoportosuló nyfsz közösség a zászlóvivő. A műegyetemi tanszéket 2014. óta a nemzetközi Open Source Geospatial Foundation (OSGeo) szervezet OSGeo Lab Budapest műhelyként jegyzi ahol azóta rendszeressé váló nagysikerű FOSS4G-HU (ejtsd: Foszforgézúúúú :) rendezvényt is szerveznek a páros években.

"FOSS Academy Sommerschule 2017

A GEO washingtoni  rendezvényén várhatóan ismét ott lesz a Globális Téradat-infrastruktúra (GSDI) szervezet is. Bővebb információ: https://www.earthobservations.org/index.php Ez a fenti illusztráció forráshelye is.

Program online

The 2017 EUGEO 2017 Congress will be very successfull : more than 280 proposals of papers have been accepted. The works will be organised in thematic sessions, devoted to the main European questions concerning the geographers. These sessions will give the opportunity to further discussions, under the auspices of the chairpersons of the sessions.
These thematic sessions will be enriched by plenary conferences, given by keynote speakers, geographers but aussi political scientists, who will deal with major European and World challenges. The provisional program of the sessions and of the plenary conferences is now on line.
The papers will be presented in English or in French. We ask to the participants who wish to present their paper in French to foresee in parallel a PowerPoint in English.
The best papers presented in a lot of topical sessions could be published, at the initiative of the chairs of the sessions, in scientific journals. Until now, we have received expressions of interest from the Revue de géographie historique, GeoProgress Journal, and Belgeo.
Program adjustments are always possible. Visit the conference website regularly: eugeo2017.sciencesconf.org
