"ISESS 2011 - the International Symposium on Environmental Software Systems
ISESS 2011 - 27-29 June 2011, Brno, Czech Republic
ISESS, the International Symposium on Environmental Software Systems, was initiated in 1995 as a forum to present and discuss the fundamentals, progress and actual trends in this area in terms of methods, tools and state-of-the-art environmental informatics applications. Over the years, it has also evolved into an important networking tool for academics, environmental professionals, and other interested parties.
ISESS is a conference series organized on behalf of the International Federation for Information Processing (IFIP), WG 5.11 “Computers and Environment”. In odd-numbered years, ISESS is held as a conference with a complete range of topics related to Environmental Information Systems (EIS) and related topics. In even-numbered years ISESS is held as a workshop of International Congress on Environmental Modelling and Software (IEMSS) with the focus being on a specific topic.
The conference is organised by the Masaryk University in cooperation with IFIP, the Ministry of the Environment of the Czech Republic, the European Commission and the European Environment Agency.
The conference will display the state-of-the-art in the development and implementation EIS and eEnvironment services, with a special focus on the following topics:
  • eEnvironment and cross-border services in Digital Agenda for Europe
  • Environmental Information Systems and Services - Infrastructures and and Platforms
  • Semantics and Environment
  • Distributed Modelling
  • Information Tools for Global Environmental Assessment
  • Advanced Approaches to Catchment Hydrology Simulation
The conference is a meeting place for experts on leading edge technologies, and it aims to foster the standardization and integration of environmental data and information flows in world, which are essential pre-requirements for managing our natural resources in a framework of sustainable development. The ISESS 2011 conference is open to governmental institutions, international and intergovernmental organisations, environmental agencies and networks, scientists, academicians, politicians, businesses, public administration and decision makers in the field of environmental information, experts from ICT industry, specialists of theoretical and applied informatics, consultants, students and the concerned public.

In the framework of the upcoming Call for Proposals and Expression of Interests, the ESPON 2013 Programme ESPON would like to invite you to the Info Day on New Call and Partner Café, which will take place on *10 February 2011 in Brussels*.
At the event the European Commission and the Hungarian EU Presidency will present the policy demand behind the need for further ESPON results.
For this event ESPON will bring together all potential beneficiaries to present the upcoming Call and to assist them in preparing proposals.
It is suitable for researchers, scientists, experts, universities, private companies, policy makers, representatives of public authorities at European, national, regional and local level of 31 European countries (EU 27 + Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland), who want to learn more about this opportunity to take part in ESPON projects.

2) Plan4all Clustering Seminar, BrusselsISOCARP will organize a Plan4all Clustering Seminar on the 24. February 2011 in Brussels.
This event is part of the Plan4all dissemination, clustering, consensus building and sustainability planning activities.
With this seminar, It is proposed to engage a dialogue with selected stakeholders and actors working with SDI in Europe, and to disseminate the results of the Plan4all project. Topic of the seminar is also to explore the benefits of the Plan4all project for the community, solutions and implications in the real world. The results of the seminar will also be used for the validation process of the project.
Several EU institutions are invited to participate, as well as private stakeholders. Speakers are from the Planning World, the European Environmental Agency, the Insurance and Real Estate Industry.
The Seminar will take place in Brussels, at the ISOCARP premises of the Brussels Liaison Office, 24. February 2011 - Afternoon 14.00 - 18.00
