"The 'INfrastructure for SPatial Information in the EU' Directive, INSPIRE was adopted a decade ago to install the necessary data governance and legal as well as technical interoperability to facilitate the access and use of a wide variety of public sector spatial data.
A wide range of EU and national policies and initiatives benefit from its implementation as both policy relevant and eGovernment citizen centric applications require the effective and efficient sharing of spatial data/information and network services between public administrations within and across borders. Through the implementation of its online network services INSPIRE facilitates in addition the access and re-use by the public third parties.
This year's 2017 conference with the theme 'INSPIRE a digital Europe: Thinking out of the box', is jointly organised by France and Germany in collaboration with the European Commission Directorate-General for the Environment and other partners in the Commission and EU agencies.
The conferences emphasises in particular cross-border collaboration in a digital society while the call for submissions is centred around applications, capacity building, maintenance/implementation and innovation.
As you will notice in the scope of the conference, many of the application areas focus on eGovernment and policies (environment, transport, energy, agriculture, smart cities, health, waste and utility management, justice, spatial development/planning, disaster management, citizen science, IoT/Big data/Copernicus…).
We take this opportunity to invite you to join us at the conference and to share your views, ideas, experiences and expectations.
Please note the deadline for submitting your abstract for the INSPIRE conference is the 28th April.
We hope to welcome many of you beginning of September in Strasbourg and Kehl.
Best regards,
The INSPIRE 2017 Conference Organising Committee
