"Dear Colleague,
During the INSPIRE Conference 2014 in Aalborg, Denmark, the European Union Location Framework project will host a workshop entitled:
“Creating interoperable public services based on INSPIRE - preparing for a public consultation on a European Union Location Framework”.
The European Union Location Framework (EULF) is a framework of guidance, recommendations and actions to enhance the use and interoperability of location information in public services across sectors and borders. Initial work on the EULF is being led by the European Commission Joint Research Centre, within the Interoperability Solutions for Public Administrations (ISA) Programme, operated by DG Informatics (DIGIT). The EULF will deliver the location framework that underpins this broader vision, building on the foundations of INSPIRE.
This workshop is scheduled at a pivotal point for the EULF project, coming mid way through its work programme. The workshop will include a summary of the progress to date in developing the EULF concept and initial details of the framework. The concept will be illustrated with some examples of good practice. The workshop will also give participants the opportunity to question and validate the work to date and provide inputs that will help shape the future priorities and actions within the EULF project. It will enable the project to get some early views on questions that will be covered in a public consultation later in the year.
The target audience for the workshop is:
those interested in building on the existing INSPIRE investment to create e-government services and applications in different sectors and across borders;
those wanting to develop better links between GI and e-government / ICT colleagues across Europe;
those looking to share best practices or learn from others in location-enabling e‑government;
those interested in shaping the development of the EULF and contributing to the public consultation.
If you are interested in joining a very active discussion and will be in Aalborg on 16th of June 2014, please consider participating to this workshop, and spread the word among your colleagues who may be interested.
When: Monday 16 June, 14:00-17:30
Where: Auditorium 7, at the Aalborg University.
Maps of the Aalborg University campus and Aalborg can be found at http://inspire.ec.europa.eu/events/conferences/inspire_2014/page/venue
Registration: Participation in the workshops is free and open to everyone but participants should register for the workshops via the INSPIRE Conference registration site - even if they do not plan to attend the INSPIRE Conference.
Instructions for participants: In advance of the workshop, attendees will be asked to read a short brochure describing the EULF. They should also consider which topics they would prefer to address in the discussions and collect together any initial ideas. Otherwise, no formal preparation is needed as there will be a number of presentations during the workshop. Attendees may find it useful to do some further reading about the EULF on the ISA website (http://ec.europa.eu/isa/actions/02-interoperability-architecture/2-13action_en.htm).
Thank you for participating!
