A digitális korszak hatása a bölcsészetre

Az ALLEA kiadvány címlapja

Going Digital: Creating Change in the Humanities

A fenti címmel a mintegy 40 európai ország 50 akadémiájának szövetsége, az 1994-ben alapított  ALLEA (All European Academies) egyik munkabizottsága adott ki tanulmányt 2015 májusában.
Az anya a címlinkre kattintva tölthető le.
Három fő ajánlása a Research Data Allience összefoglalásában:

"1) Take a long-term view:
Sustaining long-term archives of unique and important cultural artefacts is critical for Europe’s leadership in Digital Humanities. We recommend a move to funding models which are not project-based, the certification of digital infrastructures, appropriate funding evaluation, pan-European policies and strategies, and adoption of best practice in digitisation and metadata standards and vocabularies. Researchers should look to large organisations such as the Research Data Alliance and DARIAH for best practices.

2) Encourage openness:
An open approach to data enables research integrity, increased secondary research and cost-effective data production. Open Access should be incentivised and increasingly mandated, data management plans should be required with all funding proposals, and data archiving costs should be included as eligible costs. Training and open repository services should be openly available, and standardised data citation should be adopted and recognised.

3) Support your people:
In Digital Humanities the people are no less important than the infrastructures and technologies. Career progression models should include recognition for the importance of data activities including data design, collection, curation, and management. Specialist training should be funded, openly accessible and certified. The roles in data management such as data librarian, data scientist, data archivist, should be recognised in the research community as trained and skilled roles."

12. Nemzetközi Térinformáció Elméleti Konferencia (COSIT)

Marek Baranowski (AGILE) jóvoltából érkezett az alábbi figyelemfelhívás

"12th International Conference on Spatial Information Theory, COSIT 2015

SECOND call for Submissions for the COSIT Doctoral Colloquium

October 12-16, 2015, Santa Fe, New Mexico, USA.
http://www.cosit.info/

Spatial information theory is concerned with all aspects of space and spatial environments as experienced and represented by humans and also by other animals and artificial agents. The scope of the conference includes both applications to specific domains and also the development of general theories of space and spatial information.

The COSIT Doctoral Colloquium is an excellent opportunity for PhD students to present their research in a supportive environment to an international audience of researchers, industry and fellow students.

Students at any stage of their PhD are encouraged to apply: the Colloquium is an ideal forum for presenting research in the early or planning stages, as well as work that is nearing completion.

Participants can expect to receive valuable feedback on issues such as how to identify and refine research questions, how to orally present research, and how to publish research, as well as insights into how to successfully complete a PhD in an interdisciplinary field.

Typically, presentation topics are related to a PhD student's doctoral dissertation research, but any research topic appropriate for COSIT may be presented, as long as the student is the primary author of the work.

Submission format:
Details on the submission and presentation format are available from the DoctoralColloquium web site

Review process:
Space permitting, all graduates who meet the deadline, format, and topic requirements will be invited to participate and give a brief oral presentation of their work. If the number of submissions exceed the time available, a rapid peer-review selection process will be based on the usual criteria of originality, scientific importance and relevance to the COSIT themes.

Conference venue:
The conference will be held at Hotel La Fonda in Santa Fe, New Mexico, USA. The city of Santa Fe is the oldest capital city in the United States, and is the oldest city in New Mexico. The City sits near the foothills of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains, with an average elevation of 7000ft/2100m. Santa Fe is a city of contrasts, where visitors find some of the nation's oldest antiquities alongside some of its most avant garde artists. Honored by UNESCO as one of the world's 9 "Creative Cities," Santa Fe is a melting pot of all the art forms, and has been for more than a century. Getting to Santa Fe is easy. Major airlines serve Santa Fe via the Albuquerque International Sunport, just 60 miles to the south of Santa Fe. Regular train service via the New Mexico Rail Runner connect the two cities, and rental cars are readily available.
